Abandonment

These three beautiful Cayuga ducks were secretly dropped at the pond sometime last night or this morning (3/16/09).  It just sickens me how people can just discard such helpless creatures.  I will be watching out for them the best I can when I am there.  I have named them "The Pretty Babies".  Here is a photo I took of them today.  They are one female and two males.  If anyone is interested in adopting please let me know.  Thank you!

Baby's Story:

This is "Baby".  He is suffering from a serious depression because he most likely saw and heard his sister Zeus attacked and killed by a predator in the wild and he couldn't help defend her.  He was also kicked out of his family circle and is now completely alone.  As of 2/09 he is aprox. only 9 months old.  He was rescued from the wild by me, and is resting at a members home at this time.  It is our hope that he will come around in time and be joined with his family again.  A location out of the wild in a safe sanctuary home environment would be best for him, but there are no funds available at this time to take that on. 

***UPDATE*** Monday 3/9/09:  I sadly need to report that Baby is no longer with us.  His spirit has hopefully joined his sister Zeus.  He had stopped eating and then it just got worse...he stopped drinking.  All efforts to get some nutrients in him could not be accomplished.  He will be terribly missed.
