Domestic Duck & Goose Rescue is trying to spread awareness of the ever growing abandonment of domestic geese and ducks into the wild. This is a sure death sentence for most since they lack the ability to fly which makes them easy prey for predators. I am tired of searching for missing domestics, and saddened when I have to retrieve a body from the water. Please pass on to all your friends the terrible misfortunes of these wonderful pets. They were never meant for the wild, so please help us secure a safe and happy Sanctuary for them all. Thank you for your time!

UPDATE: (6/14/09)
We have now captured a total of 4 raccoons and the largest was the most recent. We are relocating them all to the same exact spot so if they are a family they can be reunited. As for another update on the missing ducks, Bishop is still missing and I hope she is just hiding out. Life in the wild can be brutal, but this all keeps my dream alive of finding them all a safe and happy home environment someday where they are protected from all these predators.
UPDATE: (6/6/09)
The have a heart trap caught the raccoon on the first night. I am so grateful for any and all your prayers. Baby Girl came out of hiding yesterday and as of today Coco did too. I can only hope that Bishop will show her face soon too.
Loss of life is so hard - part 3 (6/4/09)
There has always been a group of ducks that I call my duck family. The reason for this is because they all had the same mother and father except for one male, he only shared the same mother. They even stuck with their parents friends even after their parents had left us (too soon). They have all lived happy and healthy at the pond for at least 3-4 years now until last week. I can't say for sure yet but it's not looking good. First one female went missing (Coco), then a few days later another female went missing (Bishop). Myself and the other member went looking for them and only found raccoon tracks in the mud. As of yesterday my favourite duck of all time went missing (Baby Girl) and I am left feeling empty at this moment. I found a have a heart trap to see if I can catch the raccoon ASAP and I am still hoping and praying that she is still out there and well. Maybe just hiding. Sorry for my rambling but I am horribly upset over this possible loss. Please keep Baby Girl and her siblings in your prayers. Thank You!

Only 8 days since Reggie was hit and run over by a car and killed, Willie and Harley were both hit and run over today. Neither of them survived long. Willie was the first to pass on I was told. Harley wasn't as lucky, as he had to suffer for about 45 mins until he passed on. There was nowhere we could bring him on a Sunday to have him put down quicker. We sat and told him how good he is and how handsome he is and how much we love him. My heart is so broken right now from these losses I just don't know what to do.
Willie was my main goose man and I told him that everyday. Only a few days ago I was feeding lettuce to him by holding it in my teeth and him taking it from me with his beak. He trusted me so much. If by chance I was ever wearing lipstick I would leave a silly lipstick kiss on his forehead. He always made me smile, especially when he and I would have our little goose convserations. He would make his goose sounds and I would imitate him and he would answer back. Was really silly to watch and hear, but always fun to do. We Love you and will miss you always Willie!

Harley was a very very good boy. He is what you would call a Mama's boy. He loved his mother very much. So much in fact that he stayed by her side up until a couple days ago when she had two new eggs hatch. He then kind of went out on his own and was a bit alone. Our dream was to find him a beautiful mate someday. We wanted Harley to fall in love so badly and maybe even start a family of his own. Well Harley, you have now been taken under the wing of the fabulous Willie and he will take really good care of you. We Love and miss you very much.

Today was a super tough day. When myself and the other member went to feed one of the domestic White Chinese geese, we discovered that she was bleeding. She had been laying down the entire time and we thought she had moved her nesting spot since she never moved an inch since we arrived there. Come to find out, we were informed AFTER we found her injured that a neighbor had told the people in charge of the birds that at around 6am they heard screeching tires and a thud (like a bird getting hit). That was 10 long hours earlier for her to be in horrible pain. We have decided that whoever hit her got out of their car and put her on the ground since both her legs had been broken severely. At around 4:30pm today, 5/2/09, Reggie was put to rest. I cried many tears for her but now she has no more pain.
