Welcome to the Quack Blog.  I will try to keep everyone up to date on the latest news and goings on with all the birds.

3/3/09   Today is the first day that I have made the www.duckrescuenetwork.net website public. (1:30pm)

3/3/09   Sadly, one of the missing domestic geese was discovered today.  The remains were            unidentifiable but we know it was either BeeBee or Zeus (Baby's sister).  I did say a prayer for them.  I know this is a horrible discovery to report, but these are the problems they endure each day with predators.  We can only hope the future will be brighter for them. (9:20pm)

3/7/09   Well, the weather has warmed up and they know spring is in the air.  We've had one egg laid already and the girls are starting to nest.  The sad news was that I found more remains today.  This time I found BeeBee #2.  This just crushed me.  We retrieved some of the remains so he can be buried with his brother.  (6:32pm)

3/9/09   I sadly need to report that Baby is no longer with us.  His spirit has hopefully joined his sister Zeus.  He had stopped eating and then it just got worse...he stopped drinking.  All efforts to get some nutrients in him could not be accomplished.  He will be terribly missed.

3/14/09  A BIG Thank You goes out to Linda Shaffer for adopting two previously injured Pekins.  Their names are Calvin and LaToya and I am told they have adjusted beautifully to their new home.

3/16/09  Three (3) new abandoned ducks were dropped off sometime since last night.  I am not sure what their breed is yet but they are beautiful (just found out they are Cayuga ducks).  They are all black in color with blues, greens and purples showing when the sun hits their feathers.  I will post their picture on the Home page and if anyone is interested in adopting please let me know.  Thank you!

5/2/09   I know it has been awhile since i have written anything on this site, but things in life seem to get busy and time passes by so fast.  I appologise for my absence.  Today was a horribly sad day.  One of our domestic geese (Reggie) was hit by a car in the early morning hours.  I noticed she was injured around 4pm and there was nothing we could do to save her.  Both her legs were injured beyond what we could afford to have them saved, if she could have been saved at all.  Just a very trying day.  I kissed her goodbye and told here she would be pain free very soon.

6/14/09   I have a bunch of updates on the birds.  We have incurred a number a deaths recently as you saw on the front page, but now that summer is here we have new life also.  There are a total of 6 new domestic babies that have been born.  Two were born on May 9th and the other four were born on May 27th.  Yes babies are beautiful but the thought of what their life will be like out in the wild is too hard to imagine right now.  Separate from the births we've had a bunch of duck drops this week.  Someone dropped 5 Easter baby Pekin ducks on  the evening of 5/31/09.  They were peeping still but they are now finding their real voices.  On the evening of 6/12/09 someone dropped three Muscovy ducks at the south end of the pond.  One never made it to the morning.  She was hit by a car in the road.  The other two are very dirty and scared.  That same evening someone dropped off another female Pekin along with a Mallard or Black duck.  Those two were pets and raised together as friends.  I will end by saying that I hope all these new abandoned pets to the pond can make an adjustment to life in the wild for the time being until I can find better for them.  Thank you for your time.
